The Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) has made a groundbreaking move by introducing the Gamers8 Club Awards, a new initiative aimed at rewarding esports organisations competing at its flagship event, Gamers8. With a massive prize pool of $5 million, this fund will recognise and celebrate the achievements of esports teams across multiple titles during the festival. The awards, which will be held from August 30-31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be distributed based on a points system, encouraging participation and collaboration among clubs, teams, organisers, and publishers.

Gamers8 Festival and Prize Pool

Gamers8, an esports festival organised by the Saudi Esports Federation, is set to kick off on July 6th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The festival will feature highly anticipated competitions in popular titles such as CS:GO, Dota 2, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, StarCraft 2, Fortnite, and Tekken 7. The tournament boasts a remarkable record-breaking prize pool of $45 million, which will be shared among various esports tournaments held under the federation's supervision.

Gamers8 Club Awards

In addition to the staggering overall prize pool, the Gamers8 Club Awards will allocate $5 million specifically for esports organisations that excel across multiple titles during the eight-week festival. The awards will be determined by a points-based system, where clubs participating in at least two tournaments will accumulate points based on their respective finishes. These points will unlock rewards and opportunities for the teams throughout the festival.

The Rewards and Ranking

The Gamers8 Club Awards will recognise the top-performing organisations by granting them substantial cash prizes and points. The first-placed organisation will receive a remarkable $1.5 million along with 50 points, while the second-placed organisation will be awarded $1.1 million and 35 points. The prizes scale down incrementally to the eighth-placed organisation, which will receive $100,000 and 2 points.

Additional Performance-Based Awards

While the significance of the points earned in the Gamers8 Club Awards has not been explicitly disclosed, eligible teams can look forward to unlocking additional performance-based awards and opportunities. This approach aims to foster collaboration between clubs, teams, organisers, and publishers, encouraging investment and promoting the growth of the entire esports sector in Saudi Arabia.

Club Awards Ceremony and Livestream

The Club Awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the eight-week Gamers8 season during the Next World Forum, a prominent B2B gaming and esports event held in August. The ceremony, which will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, will be livestreamed, allowing esports enthusiasts from around the world to witness the crowning of the winning teams. In addition to team-based awards, individual accolades will also be presented during this highly anticipated event.

Saudi Arabia's Commitment to Esports

The Gamers8 Club Awards initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's larger commitment to investing in the esports sector beyond hosting events. The Saudi Esports Federation, chaired by HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, aims to drive collaboration and investment in the industry to propel its growth. This $5 million fund is the latest in a series of significant investments made by Saudi Arabia in the esports ecosystem.

The Saudi Esports Federation's launch of the Gamers8 Club Awards signifies a major milestone in the development of Saudi Arabia's esports industry. With a $5 million prize pool dedicated to recognising esports organisations' achievements across multiple titles, the initiative aims to encourage collaboration and foster investment in the sector. While controversy surrounds Saudi Arabia's human rights record, this investment reflects the country's commitment to the growth and development of esports in the region.
