If you are a fan of PlayStation's exclusive games, you might be disappointed to hear that the company does not have any major existing franchise titles planned to launch before April 2025. This was confirmed by PlayStation's CEO Jim Ryan in the latest earnings report, where he also revealed that the PS5 has sold over 50 million units worldwide.

Ryan explained that the reason for the lack of major existing franchise titles is that PlayStation is focusing on developing new and original IP, as well as expanding its portfolio of third-party partnerships. He said that PlayStation wants to offer its players more diverse and innovative experiences, and that it is not afraid to take risks and experiment with new genres and formats.

Some of the new and original IP that PlayStation is working on include Horizon Forbidden West, a sequel to the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn, which is expected to release in late 2024; God of War Ragnarok, the next installment in the popular God of War series, which is slated for early 2025; and The Last of Us Part III, the highly anticipated conclusion to the award-winning The Last of Us saga, which is currently in pre-production and has no release date yet.

Ryan also mentioned some of the third-party partnerships that PlayStation has secured, such as Starfield, the sci-fi RPG from Bethesda, which will be a PS5 exclusive for one year; Final Fantasy XVI, the latest entry in the legendary Final Fantasy franchise, which will also be a PS5 exclusive; and Grand Theft Auto VI, the long-awaited sequel to the best-selling Grand Theft Auto V, which will have exclusive content and features for PS5 players.

Ryan concluded his statement by saying that PlayStation is confident in its strategy and vision, and that it is committed to delivering the best gaming experiences to its loyal and passionate fanbase. He thanked the players for their support and feedback, and promised that there will be more surprises and announcements in the future.
