A source from Sega with a track record of reliability has hinted that Nintendo Switch 2 will get five major games from the publisher in the future. The Nintendo Switch 2 is still a matter of conjecture. Nintendo has not officially confirmed that a new console is in the works, but many reports have implied that the Switch sequel will come out later in 2024. These Sega games may not launch alongside the next Nintendo console, but they should eventually see the light of day.
User @MbKKssTBhz5 on X claimed that the five games that Sega unveiled in December at The Game Awards are being developed for Nintendo Switch 2. At this event, Sega announced that it was working on new or remastered versions of Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. They did not share much details about each game, but they did display some gameplay footage for each one to give fans a glimpse of how they would look in modern times. Considering that these five Sega games are reportedly still three or four years away from release, it would be logical for them to target Nintendo’s next console. Even if Nintendo did not launch new hardware in 2024, it would surely do so by 2026 or 2027. Therefore, a publisher like Sega would definitely want to back up the platform with its own games, especially if the Switch successor does as well as the original console or better. When the Switch 2 is finally unveiled, maybe we’ll get official confirmation of these five Sega games for the device.
What do you happen to think of all of these forthcoming games from Sega making their way to Nintendo Switch 2? And what other games are you hoping to see announced for Nintendo's next platform in the future? Be sure to let me know either down in the comments section.
